MotorHistory was founded by Basit Ali LLC in Florida as a platform to provide instant, online vehicle inspection reports. In 2021, the company partnered with the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association to launch an early version of the MotorHistory vehicle history report, which was initially distributed to dealers using a database of 10,000 records—delivered via fax.
In December 2022, MotorHistory launched its official website, allowing consumers to access vehicle reports directly online.
Over time, MotorHistory evolved through strategic developments. In March 2016, the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association merged with Parkinson Auto Traders to form M&P Motors. On February 28, 2022, Basit Ali LLC acquired M&P Motors, and MotorHistory became a core brand within the newly established S&P Global Mobility business unit.
